Pakistan Railways Offers 50% off Eid-ul-Fitr for Passengers
On the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, 2019, Pakistan Railways (PR) announced a 50 percent reduction in the reservation charges. It was announced in a Monday, May 27 notification.
The notification issued by Railways Headquarters in Lahore stated that all classes and trains were subject to the reduction in fares. Only the pre-booked tickets are valid for the discount, it added.
“On the auspicious occasion of 1st Day of Eid-ul-Fitr, the competent authority was pleased to grant a 50 percent reduction in tariffs on all trains & classes on the advance reservation,” reads the notification.
The notification added that the decision not only facilitates passengers but also increases earnings and occupancy on the first day of the Eid. PR’s Director of IT has asked the authorities concerned to open advanced bookings as soon as possible.
Things to be kept in mind:
According to PR:
- The concessional tariffs should be no less than the Rs. 50 minimum tariffs.
- Each passenger can take advantage of one concession at a time
- Boy scouts are not eligible, already using the facility.
It is worth mentioning here that, on Eid’s occasion, PR decided to run five special trains to facilitate the commuters. Their reservations will start tomorrow.
