Four Day Holiday Announcement for Eid-ul-Fitr 2019
On Eid-ul-Fitr, which is expected to fall on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, the Federal government has officially announced a four-day public holiday. In this regard, the Ministry of the Interior issued a notification late Tuesday.
Eid holidays will start from June 4th (Chaand Raat) and last until June 7th (Eid’s third day), according to the notification.
This marks public holidays throughout the country on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you’re off on Saturday and Sunday, however, you’ll be able to celebrate this year’s six-day Eid holiday.
Both the Meteorological Department and Pakistan’s first official Islamic Calendar predicted that Wednesday, June 5, will be the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2019.
However, a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would be convened in Karachi on Tuesday (29th Ramazan) for the sighting of the Shawwal moon, an official from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony said, according to the decades-old tradition.
Talking to the state-owned news agency, APP, he said the committee would meet at the meteorological department building on Main University Road, Karachi, under the chairmanship of Central Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman.
The meetings at the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s zonal offices will also go as usual. The Chairman of the Mufti Munib Committee will announce the decision on the sighting of the moon or otherwise on the basis of received evidence.
